Before the Chapter Presentation practice, the Student Leaders in our Chapter had a meeting with our Chapter Sponsor and Assistant Sponsor. Two of CIA’s SLs were unable to attend the SL meeting due to some unforeseen circumstances. Our Chapter Sponsor, Coach Gail, thought that it would be a good idea for the potential SLs, the YSG 2s, to sit in the meeting and experience what the meeting is like even though only 3 out of 5 of our YSG 3 SLs were present. Therefore, I was fortunate enough to get a chance to experience what an SL meeting is like.
During the meeting, each of the SLs first shared what their goals for themselves regarding the Chapter and the time frames in which they planned to execute their goals. Then, they shared who they planned to involve in helping them fulfil their goals and the appropriate, specific steps they intended to take. The Expo Influencers and the Apprentices from our Chapter present who helped out in this November’s recent EXPO ICC conference shared what they had learned from the conference and how they intended to apply it in Chapter meetings. They learned many useful things that could really help our Chapter. For example, the Expo Influencers learned how useful the orotund was and zealously wanted to share this new experience and newfound tool with us. Though I did not like it initially, I still went on with the orotund practices. However, I have come to appreciate it as it trains me to use my diaphragm when I speak and not my throat anymore. Now, by using my diaphragm when I speak, I do not get sore throats when I have to shout. Also, Assistant Sponsor Coach Anju shared with us what she had learned and observed from the conference regarding the proper way to speak. The short sharing gave me much insight on better speaking techniques. I found every one of the Student Leader’s plans and ideas interesting. They had unique opinions and projects they wanted to work on. Their careful thought in their legit and sensible goals showed that they were responsible and tried to do their best! I especially liked how all the SL wrote down their ideas and what they wanted to share during the meeting on a document before the meeting so that they would not get stuck when asked to share their plans and goals - basically, they were prepared. KEEP IT UP SLs! I hope that next time, more time would be allocated to each of the SLs so that they do not have to rush through their sharing. However, they have many different things to cover during their short SL meeting and therefore it is quite difficult for them to have more time for each of the SLs to share their goals. Well, that’ all for now! Thank you for reading Chapter CIA’s post! Do catch our other posts; they’re going to be a chock-full of excitement! We hope you will be inspired by what we do in our Chapter and will want to find out more about ICC! :G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P:G:P Gabriel Poh Protegee of Caleb Tupili, Media Historian
